Starting Uber Eats in the UK? Track Your First Week’s Profit, Not Just Your Pay

Your Uber Eats earnings total is not your take-home profit. Before you start delivering, arrange the correct account and insurance, understand your running costs and decide how you will record your miles and time. Then use your first week to find out whether the work is worthwhile for you.

The beginner mistake is understandable: an offer appears, you see the payment and you want to get moving. But a job that looks reasonable can leave very little after travelling to the restaurant, waiting, delivering and driving back towards work.

This guide is for new UK Uber Eats couriers, particularly people delivering by car. You will learn how to get started, recognise expensive jobs and build a simple profit-tracking routine with GrabFinds. The examples are illustrative, not actual Uber offers or promised earnings.

1. Get approved before planning your first shift

Start with Uber’s official UK courier signup page. Choose the transport method you will actually use, upload the documents requested for that vehicle and complete the required screening. This is food delivery, not an application to carry passengers.

Uber’s UK document guidance says couriers must be at least 18. For car delivery, its requirements include a suitable driving licence, a DVLA check code where applicable, a recent bank statement, proof of right to work and insurance covering food delivery. Follow the current checklist in your own application; requirements depend on vehicle type and circumstances.
