There are plenty of side hustle ideas online. What is harder to see is the messy part between choosing an idea and finding someone willing to pay. That is the part I want to document.

The aim is to follow one new activity from the beginner stage towards a first sale or first paying customer. You will see the preparation, learning, mistakes and attempts to find work, rather than just a finished result. A sale is a goal, not a promise. If an idea does not work within the available budget and time, that will be part of the story too.

What can you vote for?

• 🚁 Drone videography and photography: learn the skills, investigate the equipment and permissions needed, build a sample offer and try to find a suitable first customer.
• 📦 UK dropshipping: investigate suppliers, delivery and returns, build a small offer and test whether there is demand after the costs are considered.
• 🐕 Dog walking: explore the preparation, insurance and local requirements, put together a clear service and try to earn a first booking.
• 👕 Print-on-demand products: create an original design, check fulfilment costs and try to find a customer without buying a pile of stock upfront.

What will the documentary show?

1. The starting point: what I know, what I need to learn and what the experiment is trying to achieve.
2. The real setup: tools, equipment, preparation and spending before an offer is ready.
3. The first offer: what I plan to sell, how I describe it and how I decide on a price.
4. Finding customers: listings, promotion, enquiries and attempts that get no response.
5. The outcome: whether anyone buys, what needs improving and whether I would continue.

The numbers will include the costs

Money received is not the same as profit. Updates will separate revenue from spending, including materials, platform charges and any paid promotion used. I will also report the time spent and label estimates clearly. If there are no sales, I will say so.

The useful result is an honest record of the advantages, drawbacks and practical work involved. One person’s outcome cannot guarantee what somebody else will earn.
