How to Run Retail Arbitrage Part-Time in the UK
Build a manageable weekly routine for sourcing, listings, dispatch and stock reviews while tracking profit after every cost.

Part-time retail arbitrage works only if the profit justifies both the money tied up in stock and the hours spent finding, listing and sending it. This tutorial is for someone who has already tested one item and wants a repeatable routine around existing commitments. It does not promise regular earnings. Keep your job and household budget independent of uncertain sales.
1. Define the hours you can actually deliver
Start with an illustrative four-hour weekly plan: one hour researching and sourcing, one hour photographing and listing, one hour packing and dispatching, and one hour for messages, records and reviews. These are planning allocations, not productivity claims. Customer questions and returns can interrupt that plan, so include a buffer. If the work consistently takes longer, reduce the stock rather than promising unrealistic dispatch times.
Choose sourcing locations near journeys you already make, but still record the extra costs. Set dispatch days around collection times and your employment schedule. Do not offer next-day dispatch if you cannot meet it. Check any employment contract restrictions relevant to outside work and avoid using your employer’s time or equipment.
2. Establish buying rules and a stock ceiling
Use a separate stock budget you can afford to have unavailable. Set three limits: total cash tied up, number of unsold items and maximum spend on a single product. Choose your own limits from your available funds; they are risk controls, not a target you must spend. Include supplies and return costs in the cash plan.
